Quick Review of Blood Song (The Wells of the Worlds #0)

Blood Song by Robert Mullin

My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

READ THIS BOOK! I gave Blood Song 5 stars only because I couldn’t give it more. Blood Song is a stand-alone prequel to Bid the Gods Arise. Dania is one of my favorite characters from BtGA, and she absolutely shines in this work. Rob Mullin excels in world- and character-building. When we first meet Dania in BtGA, we don’t know much about her, only that she is angry and a killer. Blood Song tells her story, and what a story. My ONLY critique of this work is that it is WAY TOO SHORT. I want much more of her story.

Dania is a cut-purse girl of the streets who is abducted from her world and those she is close to. She’s sold as a slave to a high-born lady, but that doesn’t work so well. In turn, she is sold to a gladiator trainer. Her life pretty well sucks, but she learns the gladiator trade extremely well. The rest is ugly–but amazing–history.
