Quick Review of Sanderson’s The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England

Lord save us from earnest men, or at least from Brandon Sanderson. Frugal Wizard was a pet project, a couple of ideas that had been kicking around in his head. Those ideas would have been better left in his head. Technically, it’s SF, but it plays on Arthur C. Clarke’s notion that any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic.

At its heart, though, it’s just one weary trope stacked on another. It even bows the knee to wokeness, acknowledging our supposed obligation to oppressed minorities throughout all dimensions. Gimme a break.

Sanderson’s tiresome Stormlight Archives at least showed some creative ideas. This pile does not.
